Review- Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone

Book Description

Samantha McAllister looks just like the rest of the popular girls in her junior class. But hidden beneath the straightened hair and expertly applied makeup is a secret that her friends would never understand: Sam has Purely-Obsessional OCD and is consumed by a stream of dark thoughts and worries that she can’t turn off.

Second-guessing every move, thought, and word makes daily life a struggle, and it doesn’t help that her lifelong friends will turn toxic at the first sign of a wrong outfit, wrong lunch, or wrong crush. Yet Sam knows she’d be truly crazy to leave the protection of the most popular girls in school. So when Sam meets Caroline, she has to keep her new friend with a refreshing sense of humor and no style a secret, right up there with Sam’s weekly visits to her psychiatrist.

Caroline introduces Sam to Poet’s Corner, a hidden room and a tight-knit group of misfits who have been ignored by the school at large. Sam is drawn to them immediately, especially a guitar-playing guy with a talent for verse, and starts to discover a whole new side of herself. Slowly, she begins to feel more “normal” than she ever has as part of the popular crowd . . . until she finds a new reason to question her sanity and all she holds dear.

My Thoughts

I have so much love for this book, it´s not even normal.

A young adult novel about a girl dealing with OCD. This was a book I needed to read.

`Every Last Word` by Tamara Ireland Stone. Every Last Word

Now, before I begin with my thoughts I´d like to get something off of my chest: I do NOT suffer from OCD nor any other mental illness. My thoughts below may make me seem as an uneducated person on the „mental illness“ topic and that´s fine. I´m not an expert in that field. And I don´t have to be to enjoy the story.

“If you could read my mind, you wouldn’t be smiling.”

I wasn´t smiling. How could I when I was reading about a girl who was basically perfect on the outside, living the perfect life, who had perfect ( bitches from hell, actually) friends but was a wreck from the inside. That, alone, is horrific, in my opinion.

Samantha ( female protagonist ) was one of the best written characters I have ever come across. I loved how twisted her mind worked, how much she struggled with her life and her surroundings. Not that I´m happy when people suffer ( Seriously, I´m not. I usually suffer with them in some other form ). What I´m trying to say, without sounding like an idiot, is how fascinated I was about how real Samantha and her problems felt.

I, myself, don´t struggle with any kind of mental illness so I have no clue if the author did her homework well on the topic or not. What I do know is how terrifying Samantha´s OCDs were and that I wish for no one to suffer as bad as this fictional character did.

With that being said- Samantha is introduced to the world of poetry and finds her place amongst a young group of social outcasts and her focus slowly shifts, especially with AJ.

And this is the great thing about this story- It´s not your every day-lovey dovey – full on heartbreak young adult romance. There is romance, but the story is more about Sam and the world Sam lives in and the changes she makes and goes through as a person who suffers from a mental illness.

Yes, the story was a tad predictable. I saw the endgame pretty quick but that didn´t stop me from reading further. I was interested in Samantha´s development because she was such an intense character.

A beautiful story that sends out a very important message. A great story that has left it´s mark on my heart.

Would I reread this book? Yes, I definitely would.

Would I recommend this book? Without a doubt, I would.

The Cover – 5 stars ( The cover was what caught my attention. Simple. Perfect. Even the title doesn´t give away anything, which I love.)

The Story – 5 stars ( Very entertaining. Very interesting. Totally fascinating. I was in love. )

The Characters – 5 stars ( From the Mean Girls club to the Poet´s Corner gang, Sam and AJ… all outstanding characters. Not all lovable but all very strong and well-developed. Exactly how I like it)

My emotional state after finishing this read – Just super satisfied.

I´m giving `Every Last Word` by Tamara Ireland Stone 5 out of 5 stars

Review- Truly, Madly, Deadly by Hannah Jayne

Book Description

They Said It Was An Accident…

Sawyer Dodd is a star athlete, a straight-A student, and the envy of every other girl who wants to date Kevin Anderson. When Kevin dies in a tragic car crash, Sawyer is stunned. Then she opens her locker to find a note:

You’re welcome.

Someone saw what he did to her. Someone knows that Sawyer and Kevin weren’t the perfect couple they seemed to be. And that someone—a killer—is now shadowing Sawyer’s every move..

My Thoughts

„ They say it was an accident.“

I SAY- this story can be described as the same. Someone accidentally shoved this book in the mystery genre * shaking head*.

I bought this book mainly because of the cover alone. The description was a mega bonus because I do love myself a mystery thriller.

How this book was supposed to be a mystery/ thriller is beyond me. This story was over the top predictable and that was, for me, a turn off. When you can forsee what will happen then that hardly qualifies as a mystery. A reader wants to be kept in the dark. The story has to have some mysterious aspect or else there´s no surprise, especially no thrill.

I might as well keep this review short and just say that I was fully disappointed when I finished `Truly Madly Deadly`. I expected to be scared shitless and sitting on the edge of my sofa, chewing on my fingernails. I expected to be engaged with the characters and feel what they were going through. I expected darkness and all that stuff. That didn´t happen. There were a few ( and by few I mean like, 1 or 2) scenes that were spooky but not scary enough to make me want to hide under my bed covers with all the lights on in the house.

The characters were transparent. The story was flat. The writing didn´t do anything special for me, either. The only huge positive regarding this story was that it was a super quick read.

For a Young Adult/Mystery novel not the worst I´ve read….but also far from fabulous. Maybe I set my hopes up too high for this one… who knows.

What I do know is that I will not reread Truly, Madly, Deadly. Not my cup of tea. I wouldn´t even recommend this read.

The Cover- 4 stars ( I really liked the mysterious side of the cover. It grabbed my attention)

The Story- 2 stars (I´m sad to say that this was a waste of my time. I need something with more substance. Don´t get too excited when you read the part where the Heroine, Sawyer, receives a message in an envelope about her boyfriends accident with a note attached to it that only has „ You´re welcome“ written on it. THAT is the only excitement you´ll be getting out of the story. The rest is just killing time. )

The Characters- 2 stars ( Let´s not go there.)

My emotional state after finishing this read– Disappointed.

I´m giving `Truly, Madly, Deadly` by Hannah Jayne, 2 out of 5 stars.

Review- Unveiling Ghosts ( Unveiling #3) by Jeannine Allison

Book Description

Four years ago, Sherry lost everything. Her house. Her parents. And Hunter, the love of her life. She left the small town she’d called home and tried not to look back. He’s gone. Move on. Don’t think of him. But when she learns Hunter is alive, she’s forced to question that awful night when everything was ripped away from her.

Four years ago, Hunter lost Sherry. She was his home, his family, and the love of his life. He abandoned the town that held so many painful memories, but he couldn’t stop himself from looking back. Where was she? How was she? Did she think of him, too? But when his father’s death brings both of them back home, he must deal with the fallout from his choice all those years ago.

Hunter and Sherry were childhood friends, high school sweethearts, and everything in between. Hunter always told her…

Ours is a love people write stories about.

But will it be a fairy tale or a tragedy?

My Thoughts

I could say so many good things about `Unveiling Ghosts` by Jeannine Allison, but one thing stands out the most. Something I value over almost anything else regarding books- The writing style.

This was my first time around with author Jeannine Allison and I´m overwhelmed with joy that I can say that I have another favorite author I can add to my list.Unveiling Ghosts

The writing style is, what I would refer to as: simple and meaningful. Easy for the mind yet every written sentence holds emotion, wisdom, truth and love. Also- I find it pretty impressive that the author managed to include childhood flashbacks AND dual POVs without disrupting the flow of the story. Chapeau!

When I read the tagline on the cover I remember giving the book suspicious glares.

Ours is a love people will write stories about.“

You´d have to cut me some slack here…. because that´s a line I have heard a million times before. But- never have those words felt more true when it comes to this story.

The story starts off perfect with Sherry explaining her life in wonderful detail until she receives the 2 words she´s been waiting for for 4 years. Those words brought back the hope that disappeared, the life that left her. Before we know it she´s on her way back to the town where everything started and ended. And what she finds will rattle her emotional world.

Enter Hunter and the world feels whole again, or does it? I know it does because the love I have for that boy / man ( childhood flashbacks! Looks like I loved him as a child too * insert awkward silence *) is beyond anything. Let´s just say that I fell in love and can´t seem to stop falling for him.

`Unveiling Ghosts` is an emotional second-chance-romance that also tackles difficult real life topics, such as: death, cancer, abuse and neglect. Those subjects, in my opinion, are always hard to write or even read about and this author has done a wonderful job in weaving all into this heartwarming romance and showing her readers that if her characters are able to overcome their fears then everyone else can.

Will Sherry and Hunter have their happily ever after? Will both drown in the sea of fear and let their ghosts from the past take over their futures?

I guess you´ll have to read the book and find that out for yourselves.

I fully recommend `Unveiling Ghosts` ( Unveiling #3) to anyone who loves good writing, great characters and for anyone who appreciates an emotional rollercoaster ride.

The Cover- 5 stars ( I love the cover. The image doesn´t reveal anything about the story. The colors are beautiful)

The Story- 5 stars ( Everything I could ever ask for all bundled up in 317 pages.)

The Characters- 5 stars ( Sherry and Hunter. Crushed souls without each other, an unbreakable unit as a couple….

My emotional state after finishing this read- * insert major dreamy sigh *

I´m giving `Unveiling Ghosts` (Unveiling #3), by Jeannine Allison, 5 out of 5 stars.

REVIEW- Walking Disaster ( Beautiful #2) by Jamie McGuire

Book Description

Can you love someone too much?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

My Thoughts

Okay. At first, when I read the line Can you love someone too much? I couldn´t stop laughing. I still laugh when I read that. The answer is YES! Travis is capable of loving someone too much. I´d go so far and say his love is suffocating. But that´s just me.Walking Disaster #2.2

`Walking Disaster` ( Beautiful #2 ), by Jamie McGuire, is the same story as `Beautiful Disaster` ( Beautiful #1 ) only this time, it´s told from Travis´s perspective.

If you´ve been following my reviews you probably know by now that I dislike dual POV´s. It´s bad enough having them in one book because they´re often ( very often ) repetitive scenes with little or no additional insight. When a MC from a previous book get´s his own story it´s worse because you have nearly the same amount of pages with the exact same amount of story and dialogue.

If I´m honest- it´s a rip off for me. I´m paying double for the same story with a 10% more use of the word „fuck“ in it. THAT is why I didn´t want to read this book at first. I sensed that this was going to be a 1:1 copy of the first book. My gut told me that it wasn´t going to be worth it. My friends, on the other hand, were yapping and swooning over the what they said was the best POV of all times!

I really have to start listening to my gut instead of my friends. I was right. `Walking Disaster` is just a 1:1 copy of the first book. I kid you not. Same scenes, same dialogue, etc, etc. Am I mad? Slightly.

I can´t really say that reading this book was a waste of my time. Not completely. I see the whole ordeal in a positive light. It was a re-read. An expensive one. That´s what aggravates me. I don´t have money growing from a tree in my back yard. Books aren´t cheap and if I get the same story with almost the same cover image I´m gonna be disappointed and my wallet´s going to cry.

Readers who´ve already read the first book KNOW how Travis is. He´s a loveable , passionate lunatic. I didn´t feel the need to dive into his little obsessive world and lust after Abby some more. I got the picture while reading book #1.

The few new scenes didn´t make this read more special for me. In fact- I didn´t really care much for them. I wasn´t sitting here with my mouth open from shock. * sigh *

Still- It´s a great story but you do NOT have to read book 1 and 2. Either one is enough.

Would I recommend this read?

Sure. To any Die-Hard Travis Maddox fan, definitely. For the rest of the world- Nope.

The Cover – 2 stars ( It´s like the people in charge of the cover were on a creative strike.)

The Story – 5 stars ( Same ol´, same ol´ with a lot more swearing and an obsessive mindset.)

The Characters – 5 stars ( It´s a 1:1 copy. I´m not going to hate what I loved before. )

My emotional state after finishing this read- Mad. Disappointed.

In short- I loved the first book so I can´t hate the exact same story just because of the POV switch. BUT…I can give this a lesser rating because I feel like I´ve been ripped off.

I´m giving `Walking Disaster` ( Beautiful #2 ), by Jamie McGuire, 2 out of 5 stars.

If you feel the need to go against my recommendation and still try this read out, feel free to click here and start your re-read.

REVIEW- Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Book Description

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

My Thoughts

`Beautiful Disaster` ( Beautiful #1 ) by Jamie McGuire is one of those reads where you either love or hate it. It´s a story about college kids living…. the college dream, or nightmare.. depending how you want to see it. There´s a large overdose on drama ( I´m not kidding ). It´s what the title says- A beautiful disaster.Beautiful Disaster #1

Back in 2012, when I first read the book, I loved Travis and Abby and the world they lived in. I ate up their ping-pong relationship. Those two created so much unnecessary pain for each other. I was fascinated and at the same time 100% sure no living being would ever put up with their shit.

Their relationship was like watching a Jojo bounce up and down. Mesmorizing until the cord gets tangled and you have a knot that takes you hours to undo. Then everything is fine again. THAT is how the story and these characters felt for me.

I really loved the story. Yes, it´s exaggerated. Yes, there´s violence. Yes, the characters, especially Travis, are unpredictable. Yes, I´d force my girls to marry Jesus if there ever was a real life version of Travis walking around. Yes, yes and YES. This story is over the top but still a cool real that´ll do all kinds of things to do. One of my favorite emotions towards this book, or towards the characters was frustration! I wanted to get my biggest, heaviest frying pan and knock the characters out cold because of how stupid they acted.

Travis and Abby, together, are explosive. They function perfectly but they´re also so warped. At one point I thought Travis was the perfect Hero. He was super intense, emotional, driven, loving, caring, etc etc. But then he turns into an obsessive and reckless love struck neanderthal who does what he wants.

Abby wasn´t really the best of all Heroines but she was perfect for Travis. As I woman myself I had a hard time understanding why she was such a difficult person… and that says alot! She was the reason I wanted to get the frying pan out in the first place! Yet, she was what Travis needed. His counterpart. They couldn´t be with or without each other. Life was dramatic when they were together. Life was even more dramatic, even painful, when they were apart. Let´s say they deserved each other.

As for the other characters, which weren´t many, … they were pretty normal. Totally likeable and less dramatic. Just normal college kiddos on a mission to make it out in one piece. * giggle *

Reading `Beautiful Disaster` was an emotional adventure. I can´t really say this book was high class literature but it was still 100% entertaining and definitely unforgettable. Totally worth recommending to readers who like YA/NA romances and also to readers who aren´t easily offended by every single thing in life.

The Cover – 5 stars ( Love it. A reader is absolutely clueless about the story by looking at the cover and reading the title.)

The Story – 5 stars ( Told from Abby´s POV. Over the top bogus. Totally wacko. But, oh-so-good. Besides, it´s a romance! There´s nothing you can´t NOT love. )

The Characters – 5 stars ( Let´s face it- The MC´s were over exaggerated but without them the story would have been boring! Sub-characters were fab! )

My emotional state after finishing this read – Drinks! Lots and lots of drinks are needed!

I´m giving `Beautiful Disaster`( Beautiful #1), by Jamie McGuire, 5 out of 5 stars

Review- Roomies by Lindy Zart

Book Description

Graham Malone is my roommate, my personal eye candy, the reason I get up in the morning smiling (that could be from the illicit dreams I have about him too, I suppose. Let’s move on.). He’s also beautiful to look at, but his heart is where his true beauty lies. Take away the exterior and the interior still shines.

I love him. I mean, I’m pretty sure I do, having never been in love before. Anyway, it seems legit.

And now his brother Blake is here, and, well, he’s the complete opposite of Graham. Sarcastic, brooding, and totally available. But he’s leaving soon, and Graham’s the one I want. I shouldn’t have to remind myself of this, right? I wouldn’t have to if Blake would quit looking at me like I’m something yummy and he’s starving.

Here’s a toast to roomies; the ones you should never fall in love with. Or something.

My Thoughts

If there ever was a book character who could be my twin, it would definitely be Kennedy, the Heroine from `Roomies` written by Lindy Zart.

I swear on all that´s pink and fluffy…. that girl… her thoughts, her actions… It was as if the author spied on me my whole life. I was fascinated and terrified at the same time because I kept telling myself „ Yeah, that could have been me. I say that all the time. I would have done the exact same thing!“ and that´s when I realized the Heroine and I had more in common. Scary shit, I tell you.

Besides the above I totally enjoyed `Roomies`. It´s funny, it´s charming, it´s cute. You actually feel like you´re reliving the time you had a serious crush on your best friend ( That´s how it was for me, at least. Don´t know about you, though. Lol ). It´s a catchy romance with a touch of angst.

The writing style is genius. Simple with a nice flow and totally entertaining. It felt like the book was having a nice convo with me ( or my pathetic self and I * hangs head * ). I enjoy that kind of style because it´s not so demanding.

As for the romance- I felt it. I suffered, laughed and loved with Kennedy. She was such a lovable, quirky figure. Not at all your typical Mary Sue.

Graham and Blake- let´s say I was team Graham from the start. Graham was / is the perfect roomie. Good looks, polite, clean…. a guy any woman could easily fall in love with. Blake, on the other hand ( Graham´s brother ), was okay but he just didn´t have much of a purpose other than making Graham jealous. In my humble opinion, the story would have been just as good without him. But that´s just me being weird.

Anyways- There´s no real threat in `Roomies` other than Blake and Graham fighting over Kennedy in their own special ways. Blake fights dirty, Graham more carefully until shit gets real and he fights dirty too * clapping hands* So exciting!

The only complaint I have is that this was a super short read. It felt rushed. But other than that…I loved every bit of it.

A recommendable read for any romance lover with a quirky side.

The Cover – 5 stars ( Lovely! It´s colorful. It´s cute. It grabs my attention.)

The Story – 4 stars ( The story isn´t really original but still well told. Great writing. A tad too short )

The Characters – 4 stars ( I have so much love for the Heroine. Graham was another favorite because he´s the exact opposite from Kennedy. I could have done without Blake, though )

My emotional state after finishing this read– Utterly happy!

I´m giving `Roomies`, by the awesome Lindy Zart, 4 out of 5 stars

The Matchmaker´s Playbook ( Wingmen Inc. #1) – Rachel Van Dyken

Book Description

Wingman rule number one: don’t fall for a client.

After a career-ending accident, former NFL recruit Ian Hunter is back on campus—and he’s ready to get his new game on. As one of the masterminds behind Wingmen, Inc., a successful and secretive word-of-mouth dating service, he’s putting his extensive skills with women to work for the lovelorn. But when Blake Olson requests the services of Wingmen, Inc., Ian may have landed his most hopeless client yet.

From her frumpy athletic gear to her unfortunate choice of footwear, Blake is going to need a miracle if she wants to land her crush. At least with a professional matchmaker by her side she has a fighting chance. Ian knows that his advice and a makeover can turn Blake into another successful match. But as Blake begins the transformation from hot mess to smokin’ hot, Ian realizes he’s in danger of breaking his cardinal rule.…

My Thoughts

It´s been a while since I read a proper NA novel with the right amount of drama and a satisfying ending. `The Matchmaker´s Playbook`, by Rachel Van Dyken, is such a cute read.

It´s about crushed dreams, new opportunities and about making your crush fall for you. And how does that work? Call the Wingmen and VOILA! Ian and Lex come to the rescue with their playbook filled with do´s and don´t´s and save the day!

Besides this being a light and easy going read there was one thing that extremely stood out- the dialogue.

The characters in this novel have sharp tongues and quick minds, never missing a beat when it comes to comebacks- All while trying to focus on professionally matchmaking fellow college students. Cute, right? I absolutely think it is!

There are two tiny ( really microscopic ) issues I have- the story is predictable and too short. But this is just picky ol´ me.

Anyone who wants a sexy, romantic story filled with light dramatic issues written in the best way ever then you need to grab yourself a copy of The Matchmaker´s Playbook because this is one read you sure don´t want to miss. It´s a romance! We all love romance!

The Cover – 3 stars ( At first, I didn´t like it at all but then after I finished reading I think the cover fits the story. )

The Story – 4 stars ( Cute, witty, quick and fun. We´re talking about devastated college kids here)

The Characters – 4 stars ( Blake was by far my favorite character. Especially her wardrobe. That woman understood the importance of comfort )

My emotional state after finishing this read 100% happy.

I´m giving `The Matchmaker´s Playbook` ( Wingmen Inc. #1) by the wonderful Rachel Van Dyken 4 out of 5 stars.

Cuptid´s Match – L. E. Palphreyman

Book Description

In a world where everyone has a perfect match, what if you were matched with the dangerous, notoriously good looking, original bad boy….Cupid himself?

***

Dear Lila, I am contacting you on behalf of The Cupids Matchmaking Service. You will not have heard of us but we are an organisation that work behind the scenes of society, identifying each person’s perfect match. Usually we would not contact our clients. We prefer to work in secrecy – setting up the ideal environment for the two matches to have a chance encounter. Recently, however, we ran your details through our system and…well….in your case… We think you’d better come in. Please respond at your earliest convenience. Yours Urgently, The Cupids Matchmaking Service

My Thoughts

`Cupid´s Match` by L. E. Palphreyman is plain and simply cute. I never expected to love this story as much as I do. This might be my favorite Young Adult / fantasy story 2016!

There are quite a few Cupid stories on Wattpad but not one I´ve read ( so far ) was as fun as this version of Cupid.

A total page-turner!

The intro was so darn catchy I couldn´t put this story down. How do you avoid your own match? Ha. You don´t.

Lila had no intention of being anyones match unless it was her own boyfriend. But after receiving numerous letters from The Cupids Matchmaking Service she decided to end the harrassment and tell the 3,000 year old business that she wanted her name scratched off their contact list since she never signed up for anything.

It was their mistake, right? Little did Lila know that the love matching company didn´t make a mistake. She was, by all that´s pink and fluffy, someone elses match. Someone Lila never thought actually existed. Someone who wasn´t supposed to be matched- let alone with a human. That certain someone wasn´t supposed to be on the list to begin with. It was against the company policy / the law. Yet, the match was inevitable.

I will stop right there because I´d hate to spoil the story for you. Just know that we´re dealing with a gorgeous God, a frightening Venus and, of course, LOVE.

What I liked alot about this story was that it wasn´t a overly sappy lovestory. There were problems around every corner. People… or better… Cupids from all over were trying to prevent love from happening. I enjoyed the cat and mouse chase and above all- Venus. It was awesome to read about Gods that bring love and desire and then reading about Venus * shiver *. Her role was not what I expected yet I totally welcomed the psycho behavior from the Goddess of love and beauty.

A fully recommendable read! `Cupid´s Match` is one of those stories you can´t put down.

The Cover- 5 stars ( I LOVE the simplicity of this cover. Love, love, L.O.V.E it.)

The Characters – 5 stars ( Great characters. From Lila to Cupid to Cal to Charlie…. even Venus… all were fantastic!)

The Story- 5 stars ( It´s a story well written and told. Totally catchy, exciting, and way cool )

My emotional state after finishing this story- I felt like the author hit me with one of Cupids arrows.

I´m giving `Cupid`s Match` by author L. E. Palphreyman 5 out of 5 stars

Mermaids and the Vampires Who Love Them – Brittanie Charmintine

Book Description

“Everyone knows mermaid blood is like vampire crack …” Right before her senior year, mermaid Waverly Marie Fishwater’s parents inform her they’re moving to the Bay Area in Northern California. She’s to attend a cross-cultural experimental high school. The major problem is that it’s a vampire school, and mermaid blood is their favorite snack!

**A WATTYS 2014 AWARD WINNING STORY**

My Thoughts

Mermaids and vampires? Does that even work in a book? I can tell you- It´s possible. I couldn´t believe it myself. `Mermaids and the Vampires Who Love Them` by author Brittanie Charmintine is a breath of fresh air! I´ve read so many books from all kinds of genres and NEVER have I come across a story as unique and as compelling as this one. ( still amazed by how mermaids and vampires worked together )

After the eye-catcher cover I read the book description. I´ll be honest here- I had no clue what to think of what I saw. A beautiful cover, a title that said so much yet not enough, and then the description. Hmm. The fact that the book had won an award AND that it´s currently #2 in the Wattpad Vampire rankings did finalize my decision to read this story.

Let me just say – WOW! . From the beginning to the last page- EVERYTHING was exciting. The characters, the storyline, the details…. all sent me on a ride I will never forget.

Although this was more a Young Adult novel I enjoyed it immensely.

This story had so much to offer ( and SO much more ). To say I was surprised about the Vampires and Mermaids is an understatement- This author packed some more mythical figures into the mix which made this story one huge colorful piece of enjoyment. Are you looking for fairies in a story? Or maybe a werewolf? Hof about greek Gods? Search no more, they´re all in this book and make a wonderful lot.

What I loved most about `Mermaids and the Vampires who Love Them` was that there never was a slow moment. If it wasn´t Waverly doing something spectacular it was another character, showing their abilities and adding using them at the cross-cultural high school.

This was an exciting read that will most definitely make my „Top 10 List Of Awesome Reads“. A magical, mythical, lovable story about new beginnings, lies, truths, friendship, loyalty, and of course, love.
